RyebergCuratedVideo, “Ryeberg Live Vancouver: Tuesday, 6 March, 2012“
Ryeberg travelled to Vancouver and found its people. Sincere thanks to every one of you who packed into the Cabaret Room of the Waldorf Hotel to make Ryeberg Live Vancouver such a glorious event. Michael Turner kicked off the show by throwing a frisbee into the audience and urging us to “live in fragments no longer.” Miriam Toews followed, asking us to join 30,000 Stoke football fans in a minute’s silence. After intermission, Charles Demers showed us whose houses to raid when the shit hits the fan, and Stephen Osborne closed the evening with his own “view cone” of historic Vancouver. Everyone went home with a copy of Geist Magazine and a whole lot to talk about.
The four Ryebergs performed at the show are yours to read on Ryeberg, and here are a few photos from Ryeberg Live Vancouver taken by Vancouver photographer, Christine McAvoy.

Thanks to Geist — Stephen, Ben, Lauren, Chelsea, Michal — for publishing a fine magazine and for supporting Ryeberg Live. Thanks to Lizzy Karp for initiating Ryeberg Live Vancouver and for getting the word out to Vancouverites. Thanks also to the Waldorf Hotel — Danny, Michael, Kasha, Brittney, Tom, and tech wizard Garzita. Brilliant venue. Thanks Christine McAvoy for the great pictures. Finally, huge thanks to the Ryeberg curators: Michael Turner, Miriam Toews, Charles Demers, and Stephen Osborne.
Ryeberg returned home soon after for Ryeberg Live Toronto 2012, which featured Jowita Bydlowska, Lynn Crosbie, Sean Dixon and Nick Mount. It was another amazing show. Click here to see a few photos.

Oh my god this looks amazing! Couldn’t you guys do another show in Toronto?
Alexis, have you seen this?

Introduce yourself on the night.
I love the old shots of Vancouver at the start of the video!
When is Ryeberg coming to London?
I love the video trailer, specially the last part with the Japenese Rock’n roll dancers in Yoyogi Park in Tokyo…
Wow, stimulating night! The possibilities are endless.
**WISH THIS WEBSITE HAD LIVE SPOKEN WORD along with the video clips, like the evening event had. LOVED STEPHEN OSBORNE’S PRESENTATION! Please film and post authors reading at events in future! Cheers.
Margot, so glad you liked the show. For now we’re only publishing the essays in static form, but what you suggest is a good plan for the future: videos of each Ryeberg Live performance, viewable on Ryeberg. Many thanks for coming out!
Everybody looks hale, hearty and healthy.
Silence, eh?
Hmmm. (Shhhh!)
As a transplanted Torontonian, it’s an understatement to say that we need more events like this in Vancouver. Thanks Erik for brining Ryeberg to the Wet Coast. A great night.
